Question Simple ignition kill switch?

Cant' believe my local auto shops don't carry a simple ignition kill switch. Any idea where I can get one?

I've got a (Haynes) manual - not sure if I can figure out which wires to put a toggle switch on though.

Really don't want to have a full battery disconnect switch - just an ignition one.

No such wire. Have the Haynes manual, but the friggin' wiring diagrams are 10 pages long for my model year F150 (1990) - unable to figure out where to splice the switch into. Have Haynes manual for my Toyota, and had no problems installing the switch. ????

Your best bet, IMO, is to splice a switch inline between the inertia switch and the fuel pump relay. This won't effect the ignition, but it will prevent the fuel pump(s) from being used. The switch should be to the left of the brake pedal, on the inside firewall. There will be two wires coming from it. You can splice the switch into either wire, it doesn't matter. Pick the one that looks like it's routing will make the switch placement ideal for you.

Take care,
-Chris

It's an auto. On my manual tranny Toyota I put one in the clutch safety switch line.

A question about putting a switch in line with the fuel pump relay - if I forget to turn the switch on, and run it out of gas, how much of a pain in the *** is it to get the fuel injection to start working again?

It won't start with the switch off. Still, it's no big deal. You turn the switch on, then turn the key on for 2 seconds, then off, then on for 2 seconds, then off. Do this 5 or 6 times, and then try to start it. It should start right up.

Take care,
-Chris
