mind if I throw in my $0.02?

Seeing that my $0.02 is Canadian it shouldn't be too much

Anyway here are a few really easy ways to check for "signs" of a blown head gasket before pulling your plugs. Pull off your oil filler cap and turn it over and check the bottom. Sometimes you will get this nice creamy tan coloured goo that condinsated from the oil from all that heat, if its there you probably have a problem. Also you can check your dip stick as well, right up at the top where it seals itself in to the dipstick tube. These thing only work for a problem that has been around awhile and that have just gotten worse and worse over time.

Also what colour is the coolant? Did it keep that pretty green (or whatever) colour and it is nice and clear or has it become cloudy

If none of those things are there and you still have the problem, pull the plugs. You will probably have one or two super bone white plugs (I bet its the drivers side rear)

Hmm what about a air pocket....its happened before. How did you put the coolant in the truck when you changed the pump? Did you let it get hot with the heater on?

Just some dumb suggestions from the monkey.....

oil filler cap looks ok, coolant also looks ok. im in school right now and my truck's at some so i wont be able to work on it until i go home again (next weekend). ill pull the plugs when im there and see how they look. i never tried running the engine with the heater on. if the radiator is blocked or if the coolant system is blocked somehwere, could this cause the pressure to fluctuate at all? its gotta either be the blown head gasket, or the cooling system has a clog somewhere.
