How 'bout this?

I just registered here in order to get some opinions before I decide to tear my truck apart for a few months. Better to get everything straight before disabling one of your vehicles right?
I've got a 93 F150 with a 351 (SD). I've seriously been contemplating stroking it to a 392 (probably end up with an overbore too). I'd also port the factory heads. Now I ask, will doing this introduce a whole slew of problems with my computer and electronic controls? If it does, would I just be better off stripping it all down to carbureation and Edelbrock intake and heads? The dash consists of analog gages but I believe they recieve digital signals. Will bypassing all the computer electronics affect this then too? I actually wouldn't mind tearing it all down and putting in dinosaur technology, but I'm wondering how far the effects are going to reach, and estimate how much this may end up costing me. Any help, experience, etc would be great. Thanks.

is it your daily driver? because a carbed 351's gas mileage i gonna suck! if you go with the stroker kit and keep fuel injection youre probably gonna run into trouble due to the speed density. why go with the stroker kit? why not just run a blower on the 351? from what i know about strokers, they put a lot of stress on an engine, so it wont last too long before you need a rebuild. unless the truck is anot a daily driver, that is.

You wouldn't be able to keep your stock computer program with all those mods. And carburation would not pass inspection, your gas milage would suck, and you would lose power compared to EFI. I would look into stand alone fuel injection systemd like Holley Commander 950 (about $1000). I also agree that you should look into a blower, or swapping in a big block engine. When you stroke a 351 out to 393 you lose a lot of reliability, and would end up doing a rebuild every 20K or 30K miles.

I say drop in a blown 460. But if you still want a stroker engine you can storke that out to 509, and hire a gas truck to follow you around!
