Another ? for dvldog458...
dvldog458,
When you installed your Edelbrock/BBK throttle body, did your accelerator become stiffer? I just got mine in today and I guess I notice a little more top end punch, but it's much harder to hammer it now that my gas pedal is a lot stiffer due to the stiffness of the new throttle body. I'm thinking about taking it out and just waiting until I get my upper/lower intake manifold to put it in again. I mean it really doesn't help out unless I'm at WOT. Maybe it just has to be broke in a tad. What do you think? Any advice is greatly appreciated as always!!!

TF,
Outstanding choice on the throttle body!
I had the same prob with mine when i first put it in. I wound up taking it out and lubing the sh*t out of the springs and linkage (internally and externally). It was still alittle stiff after that...........ya just gotta give it a couple of weeks to let it break-in.
P.S.
Sorry about taking so long to write back..........works has been crazy!
Good luck.

TF,
Also,be careful when you clean the throttle body out (i.e. throttle body/carb cleaner) it tends to dry the hell out of the internal/external linkage.
So when your done cleaning it out, just lube her up again with some WD40.

dvldog458,
Thanks for the tip!!! I'll have to remember that for next time! I called Edelbrock last Thursday and asked if the stiffness was normal, and they didn't think it was. They told me to take it out and swap it in for another one. I called the shop that put it in and let them know the situation. He always gives me great deals on install, so I asked him how much he'd charge me to put in the upper/lower intake manifold and he quoted me $150!!! Considering it takes some 6-8 hours, and a shop at least 4-5 hours of labor, I couldn't pass that up. The only reason I went with the throttle body instead of the intake manifold was because I didn't have an arm and a leg to spend on the labor. But after hearing that, I figured the whole stiff throttle ordeal must have been an omen or something, so I'm exchanging the BBK/Edelbrock throttle body for the Edelbrock upper/lower intake manifold, the 5.0L truck one. Supposed to give a good mid-range torque boost which I'm very much looking forward to.
I guess I've been a little impatient on the mods. lately (ie the superchip, now the throttle body) but all my other mods. worked immediately (like exhaust, pulleys, K&N, cam, and I'm assuming the headers did as well) so I just figured something was wrong with them. I will get around to purchasing a chip and throttle body in the future, but I think bang for the buck I can't pass up this intake manifold right now! Hopefully, 3rd times the charm!!!

TF,
Good luck on the manifold.
Just some advice on installing the manifold.......Make sure you use the support bar on the passenger's side of the engine.
It connects from the manifold (upper) to a header bolt.
I didn't use my support bar at first when i did my install, and i would up getting some stress cracks by the mounting bolts.
The stock one wouldn't fit because of the 1" heat spacer i use.
I had to make a custom one, piece of cake.
I'm not sure if the stock fits...........but MAKE SURE you use one.
It got pretty expensive when i had the plenum repaired.
The welder said the stress cracks were from leaning on the plenum when i was working on the motor and also the vibration and massive size of the plenum was a factor too.
Hope this helps.
