Those are the pulleys I have-- March aluminum underdrive pulleys, power & amp series-- for automatic transmissions and vehicles with higher amp. needs. It comes with an alternator pulley, a water pump pulley, and a crankshaft pulley. I do believe you need a puller for installation. ALSO OF NOTE *** you WILL need a new belt ***, I believe it's an 89" belt, but the part # is 5060895. The last thing you want to have happen is to install the pulleys and then find out that your oem belt is too long!!! The belt you need will be shorter than your stock belt.

Any ways, I HIGHLY recommend these pulleys. Very noticeable top end power increase, which is just what my truck needly badly!!!! It almost acts like a shift kit, too. Today I was in third gear trying to get around a slow vehicle and when I punched it, my tranny downshifted twice all the way to 1st gear at like 30 mph!!! It has NEVER done that! I just might hold off on the shift kit for a little while and let my wallet catch up with the mods. I've done over the past few weeks

Chris,

I agree that there is much more to a good chip program than simple timing advance. A great deal more in the newer trucks as they have more computer controlled functions, such as the ability to pull out timing under load.

As for gains, I have yet to see one deliver what was promised, but have only seen a few dozen dyno runs. An exception to this seems to be the Lightning chips with many getting very close to claimed gains. Most do fatten up the torque curve, some more than others. I've never seen anything on the I6 but would be interested. Since the I6 makes it's torque and peak HP at fairly low revs, it may benefit more than say a 302, which revs better stock. As I said I'm not knocking chips, I just have never seen real data that supports the claims of the vast majority of bolt ons.

I am also of the school of looking at the curve, rather than just the peaks. Gains over the curve, even when they don't change the peaks much, still make you quicker. Of course I'm sure you know that...

Did you have to pull your computer out from the engine compartment to clean the contact coating off? Also, from what you have said before I assume you have what they consider the Stage II chip?

I have misplaced the paperwork that came with it, which is unusual for me, but I do have the chip right here. It says JET Power Control Module, and has a part number (89504) on a separate sticker. I have no idea what "stage" it is.

I didn't even have to open the hood to install it, other than to disconnect the battery cable. The contacts are right behind the ECM access plate, which is directly accessible after moving the e-brake assembly.

I've gotta tell you, I am still amazed at just how much it really did for my truck. I understand your reasoning, though. I would be exactly the same way. I do suspect, for whatever reason, that the hp and torque gains are more noticable with the I6 than they would be with a V8. Again, I didn't realize what it did for me until it was gone. I still haven't tried reinstalling it. Maybe tomorrow, if time permits. Since the e-brake pedal is out, this is the best time. I am getting really sick of re-entering all of the required info for my stereo (high and low filter settings, station presets and names, preferences, etc.) after resetting the ECM, but I miss that chip even more.

Take care,
-Chris

March Power and Amp Pulley sets for a 1994 F150

I am new to this forum but have been reading posts here for a long time. I recently purchased a 1994 F150 2wd 5.0L. I have been looking to install a under-drive pulley set and seen that the March Power and Amp set seems to be what most people have. I was wondering if anyone had a 1994 that they put them on because it doesn't list an actual set for a 94.... just up to a 93. I've already bumped the timing and have seen nice improvements there and so this is my next step. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Patrick

When AR went to E10 blend fuels, my 1994 Lightning began to ping. I then started running 93 octane Shell, and it pinged even more at WOT. I checked the ECM for a chip and found a Hypertech chip installed. I removed the chip, ran a bottle of Lucas Deep Cleaning additive and the ping went away.

I decided to bump the timing from the factory setting of 10 degrees, to 14 degrees. Of course, I continued using 93 octane, but switched to Conoco brand gas. 14 degrees timing and Conoco 93 octane pulls much harder than a Hypertech chip and 93 octane Shell. I guarantee I wasn't making an extra 20+ HP with the Hypertech installed.

I installed a Punisher Street VB a few weeks ago, with a new filter kit and an external Wix Transmission Filter.

My Lightning with 14 dgrees timing and Punisher VB runs much better than it ever did with the Hypertech chip. So, $225 is alot of money to spend on a part that may or may not increase HP. Advancing the timing is free and only takes a few minutes.

Not sure why you couldn't use them, you may have to run a different belt size though.
