Need Help... Quick!

After a short trip to the supermarket I got out of my 95 F-150 and notice that it smells like burning. I walk all the way around the truck and it's coming from the front passanger's side wheel-well. I recently had my front pads replaced... could this be the nasty burning smell??? Also, (I dont know if this would have anything to do with this at all or not) but that same tire (front passanger's side) is really low on tread. All the tires have been rotated, and were installed at the same time but any suggestions on either of these issues???

Thanks alot!

Blaze

Stuff your head in there and check if there is grease on the rotors or lost rag...determine the source. It might be something minor. Do your brakes work well?

IMO the tire tread thing is a different, alignment issue.

Their is no grease just the nasty smell. And the alignment doesnt seem to be that bad. Even though it seems good can it still be bad and wear my tires faster???

Thanks,

Blaze

well the smell can be a number of different things. my advice is to climb under the truck and see if you see anyting unusual. my truck has a really bad burning smell when i drive it because my engine's rear main seal is busted and the oil leaks right on the exhaust pipe. when the exhaust pipe gets hot, it burns the oil, and it smells terrible! my point: the smell could be anyting or it could be nothing, but youre probably going to have to crawl underneath to get a better look. good luck!

The Pass tire probably came from the rear... which may have been roasted via the heavy foot.

Other point; My truck, when I bought it, had cupped tires in the front. It felt fine while driving. But when I aligned it the toe was out, causing quick tire wear and loud uneven treaded tires.

The alignment could be off even if it feels correct.

Reguarding the smell, do you see any smoke right after driving it?

I honestly dont know. This is the third time I've noticed it and havent got out in time to look. I dont think their is any smoke though. Do you think I should take it back to the place that installed the new breaks and have them look at it since i'm mechanically challenged???

Thanks,

Blaze

Yep, tell em you smell something burning. Be as descriptive as possible. Better safe than sorry! Inquire about the tire also.
