87-91 to 92-96 front end conversion

has anyone here ever converted the front end of an 87-91 style f-150 to a 92-96? i read about this somewhere and its something ive always wanted to do (IMO the 92-96 are the best looking trucks ford ever made). what's involved? i know ill need the fenders, hood, grille, and lights. what else? is it s simple job, or is there extended modifications needed? simple enough where any decent body shop could do it? thanks!

I know this is probly something you might not be interested in but I thought I'd tell you anyways, at www.usbody.com they have a one piece fiberglass 92-96 front that would also fit on a 87-91.But I doubt you would go baja style your truck.

Having just completely rebuilt my friends '94 nose, I can tell you exactly what's involved. The best thing is to find a donor truck in good shape, because you will need the radiator core shield, both r and l fenders, windshield cowl, hood, grille, r and l headlight assy, r and l headlight doors, grille filler (piece that goes under grille), r and l bumper fillers (plastic that goes between bumper and body), and front bumper. However, I'm 99% sure everything from fenders up will bolt on without or with minor modifications. I have seen someone convert an '80 F-Series to a '96 F-Series, so it is possible!! With the proper tools, it can probably be done in a weekend! If you need any help let me know. Good luck!! Also if u have any questions check out Jobrite Auto (http://www.jobriteauto.com/). They've done many conversions and they know what they're talking about. Just get on the phone and call em up!

Edit: forgot, but you will also need the plastic piece that holds all grille pieces to the radiator core shield, it assembles VERY easy!!

something to consider

My wife bought me Truckin' magazine and it had an add for converting our older styles to look similar to Super Dutys. 3 piece kit included hood, grill, and bumper I think.

I'll post again when I find what page its on.

thanks for hte tips, guys! i already tried usbody.com, but their tilt front ends attach to the frame and that won't work with a body lift. from JW 4x4'spost, the project doesnt semtoo difficult. im gonna keep a lookout at junkyards and start collecting the parts little by little. thanks for the tips.

It basically took us a full weekend to remove all the damaged parts and bolt on all the replacement parts. The entire grille and headlight assembly takes very little time to assemble. The most time consuming part is replacing the radiator support, and finally adjusting everything was also time consuming. But it is very doable!!! Good luck!
