My 95 5.0 f-150 pings terribly on light throttle. Because of this, I had to lower the timing way down. It runs like a dog with the timing way down, so I would like to correct this problem.
I hooked it up to a scanner and got an "insufficient EGR flow" code. 332 I think. What could be restrciting the EGR flow? It has a brand new EGR valve on it.

lack of vacume. check the vac. line's. see if they are ok. start there. good luck

I found a cracked (hard plastic) vacuum line that goes from the "tin can" to the intake. I think I'll just buy a section of rubber vacuum hose and replace all the hard plastic lines following the diagram.

I forgot to ask...Could a plugged cat cause this code? My cat rattles all the time and I also have the 311 code. (Thermactor pump inoperative) so i'm assuming my cats are toast. I know that could be my power problem...

i am going through this now on my 90' . i have a plugged vacuum line from the evr to the egr . check the vacuum to the evr from it's source if you have it there then check the line from the evr to the egr for cracks or blockages .

 

thats same thing happened to me,I was freaking out untill I saw that little red vacum line melted in half....I just did what you said and patched it with rubber tube....works fine now.

 

Thanks for the replies. I replaced all the hoses, and found 2 broken lines. It seems to be working now, and the check engine light doesn't come on anymore.

pluged exhaust should not cause a lack of egr flow. on 95 i think it still use's evp. so it just know's if egr open's or not. and how far it does. a plugged exhaust will cause lack of power. and if it get's to that point. it will cause alot of heat build up and start cracking your exhaust maniflod's. but you should notice the power lose if it is starting to plug up on you.
