Winshield wiper problems
Hi everybody!
My winshield wipers only work on high speed, neither the intermitent or slow work. I was wrong in assuming that it was the actual switch located under the dash because after replacing it with a "dealer only" part I still have the same problem.
When looking under the hood to see if there were any noticeable wiring problems I found that one of the plugs that go into the wiper motor was unplugged....I plugged it in and still my wipers only worked on high speed and now, with the second wiper plug in place, I notice that my voltage gauge is going screwy (jumping all around the gauge). So I unplug the second connector and the voltage gauge reads regular and still only high speed on the wipers.
My conclusion, and please correct me if I am wrong, is that there are two seperate wiper motors. One for high speed and one for slow and intermitent, and in my case the motor designated for slow and intermitent must be shorted out (hince my voltage gauge going screwy when it is plugged in).
Any insight regarding this is truely appreciated, hopefully somone has experienced something similar to this and can help me fix this problem.
Thanks!

I think the problem might be with the actual switch in the stalk. I believe that there is an integrated circuit hidden in there with capacitors that control the delay, and a resistor array to control the speed. I can't say for sure if that is how it is done on your truck but that multi function switch is probably your problem.
BTW i think they run about $150.

yeah i think my motor on my wipers is going bad, the other day i got in and turned them on and they were slow and now they whine. not sure if its the motor tho, but i think it is. haven't looked at it yet. curt
