Question Heater Fan...Switch? or Motor?

Well, I tried to use my fan yesterday, and in all of the positions it doesn't even make a noise, let alone blow out any air. I think it may be the switch, could be wrong though. It's an '88 F-150... andbody have the same problem and have any suggestions. Thanks

It must be the switch. Mine started working only on high this week.

Let me know what you find.

Hesitation

The fan use to hesitate when I flipped the switch on, kind of gave the impression it had a really big load on it and bogged down, ....but it would always run good when it was on. No sqeaky noises, smells or anything out of the ordinary. This is what leads me to believe it's the switch.

I've had the dash out of an old '86 F-150 about 3 months ago to repair the temperature slider gizmo,...but I don't recall looking at the fan switch. I think I'm going to take apart my 86 dash again before taking apart the 88 so I know what I'm getting into.

Switch

I had to replace the switch on my 96 Ford Contour. It cought fire and melted all the wiring behind the dash that was connected to it. I called Ford and at the time no recall was issued. I replaced it out of pocket, and it was a nightmare... About a month after I replaced it, I got a notice from Ford that said the item was under recall and that they would refund the cost of the parts if you had already replaced them.. Whoopie!!!!! Let me know what kinda trouble it is and I will consider changing mine.

Fuse fuse fuse....

Sunday night I decieded to work on the problem... before I started ripping things apart, I checked the fuse. That was the problem. And boy, it REALLY blew the fuse. Part of the fuse panel was melted, I don't know how I didn't smell it! I replaced it, it's been doing alright, I just wonder how long 'till she blows again.

heater

My guess is if the fuse blew then the fan motor was
seized or you have something in the fan box that is
putting too much of a load on it.Mice sometimes get into
the weirdest places and a nest could bog down a fan motor.
Just a guess but have seen it happen before. Also did
you have the correct fuse in the heater slot. The panel
being melted leads me to believe that a bigger fuse was in
place. The switch may be ok if it blows in all speeds. To check pull
the heater out and check the resisters for the various speeds.
