Question Clicking brakes

I have a strange brake sound with my 87 F150 with 70000 miles. When applying the brake for the first time going forward or reverse, I'll hear a loud click in the front end. Continuing in the same direction and applying the brake again, there is no click sound, things are good. Reversing direction and then applying the brake the first time in that direction and I'll hear the click. Any suggestions would be appreciated.....

Pull the tire and caliper off and see if the pads are loose. It may have some shims or clips that are missing and allowing the pads to move around. Just a guess though, i've never heard of that problem before.

I've worked on cars and if the rotors get too hot they will worp a little. If they worp a little in 1 spot, you will hear the clicking every time you hit the brakes and the rotors pass that worped spot.

But if they are warped you would feel a brake pedal pulsation. Also his problem only happens once in each direction.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I took it in for new pads and I'm sure they'll resurface the rotors too. Hope this fixes it.
