Question 95 Questions(2)

1. I have 3:08 gears and 29" tires.Going to 3:73 gears and 31" tires.What is the right speedo gear to correct speedo.
2.My timing is currently at 7 Deg BDC.It's should be at 10 Deg
BDC.It pings a little now but It gets worse if I go to 10 Deg. ?

Your new rear gears and tires will make your speedometer read roughly 3mph per 1000rpm slower than your current gears and tires. I'm not aware of a speedo gear that will compensate for such a small amount, but that dooesn't mean they don't exist. I would try talking to your local Ford dealer and see if they know.

As far as your timing is concerned, are you checking it with the spout removed? It shouldn't ping that low, and may have alot of carbon build-up in the cylinders. In the old days of carburetors, this was easily solved by dripping water into the carb while the engine was running, but with an EFI system, the best way to correct it is with a MotorVac system, found at most bigger repair facilities and dealerships.
