Question Old Truck That Doesn't Run Right When Warm

Truck will run and drive perfectly fine but once it gets warm it'll start to sputter and pop at idle and I have to play with the throttle which kinda fixes it but I want to be able to drive in the summer, any ideas? It's a 1989 ford f 150 4.9 inline 6 and I believe the guy I bought it off of disconnected everything for the EGR and has screwed the alternator wiring and a lot of other things.
