Fuel Tank Selector Valve
Fuel Tank Selector Valve
So my front tank never worked and suspected it was the fuel tank selector valve. Started selling gas and thought it might be the front tank since it has a full tank of gas and I added to it, was not paying attention to which tank I was filling. Notice that it was using more fuel then notice the smell even more. Long story, looks like the valve is sending the return fuel to front tank and not the rear tank it is coming from.
I found this one on Amazon.
But there are others on the page half the price. The only thing is, they say they are for 89-97. Example:
Wondering if there is any difference and will they work... I do know some were made where you could change the filter in the fuel tank selector valve and some you could not.
Truck: 87 Ford F150, 5.0L/302ci EFI, 2WD, Custom...
Thanks in advance...

according to the info I got from rockauto.com the correct part number is F1UZ9B2263B. rock auto has none in stock. Amazon shows it here for 136.99.
it says for various E150, E250 etc but in other places it shows for F series. contrary to what it says, the 92 thru 96 models have a completely different setup. should be the right one at a decent price.
Got it replaced with theAmazon $136.99 part and runs great. The only thing is the fuel gage for the front tank, the one that never worked, is still pegged out past full. This is after I siphon 10 gallons of the old gas out... Also, hat is the best way to check to see if the fuel pump is running/working on the front tank and how to tell if it is the 15 or 19 gallon tank?
Glad you got the duals working, when a fuel gauge pegs out, it means that there is no resistance felt in the toilet tank apparatus . my front tank did that shortly after I installed a new pump cartridge in it. when I opened it back up, the wire on the sending unit had slipped off the flat slip on connector.. I tightened the connector a little and reinstalled it and it has worked since you could have that as a problem, or it could be the sending unit with the rheostat gone bad., or an open (broken) wire to the gauge, either way it means getting the FDM out of the tank to troubleshoot the problem, except for the broken wire/bad selector switch can be checked before going into the tank.
Not sure if the duals are working yet. Trying to figure out if the front fuel pump is working and what size tank it has, so I can get the correct fuel pump/complete unit. The wheel base is 138" and think it is the 19 gal. tank (specified in an tank spec. ordering site) and not the 16 gal. tank.
