1990 F150 check engine light/obd1 scanner light.

I tried googling and came up with bupkis. I have a 1990 Ford F150 with 5.0. Truck will not start. While driving the check engine light came on and the truck made it home but acceleration was lacking.

When I got home, I put the OBD1 scanner on it, but the test light just stays on, won't flash any codes. I attempted to use the paperclip method with the same results, the check engine light stays on and won't flash any codes.

Anybody have ideas?

I'm guessing a bad ground or a blown ECM.

Good call on blown ECM. Never seen one leave light on, usually don't work at all.

Fun fact, an ECM from an 89 Bronce with 5,7L works just fine. Had one laying around. LOL.
