1990 F-150 in-line 6 stalling

My f150 stalled today as I was backing up and shifted into drive. It took about 15 seconds of turning the key to get it to turn back on. About 10 minutes later I was stopped to make a turn and it did the same thing. It normally take a second or two for it to roll over and start. Looking for a fix. Battery, alternator?
Thanks,
Anthony

Might be a sticky idle air controller. Will it restart right away if you press the gas down a little bit?

I didn’t try to give it gas. It took about 15 seconds of turning it on and off. It sounded like it didn’t have enough juice to turn over and then all of a sudden it fired right up

If it won't turn over when you hit the key, or turns over very slowly until you let it sit, do the following:

Clean battery posts and terminals and all connections between the battery and starter, go to a parts store and get the battery and charging system load tested.

Thanks I’ll stop in tomorrow and get it tested and I’ll let you know

also check the starter solenoid near the battery, if it is the starter not engaging when you turn the key to start, try jumping the connection from the battery to the other side going to the starter, if it engages then it could be the solenoid. The dirty corroded battery terminal posts should be the first thing to check like glc said
