1992 f150

I have a quick question I have a 1992 f150 has a 93" 5.0w in it well it finally took a dump on me I'm now in the process of trying to find it a new heart. I'm wanting a 351w but stuck debating if I want carb or efi it has the e40d with the electronic t-case and dont have a clue where to start at. What I'm getting at is I dont know what all will have to be swapped for a carb set up or if it'll be easier to stay with the efi. Also which 351 modles will mount up to my harness " year wise" and if I stay with efi can I use my same computer? Thanks in advanced for the help

Stick with what fits with everything. I used to work (year 2000) with a guy who had a 351 installed in his Bronco when the 302 blew up at about 250k miles. He said that if he knew how much trouble and expense it was to change it, he never would have done it.

Anything can be done with enough time and money. Your PCM is required for the E4OD, but it won't control a carb. Your best bet is a EFI 302, modify it as desired keeping the stock electronics.

Windsor is Windsor. Mustang parts work.

I'll first say I'm no expert on engine swaps. That being said, I don't see why you couldn't upgrade to a 5.8 as long as it comes from an 1989 through 1995 F150, as long as it has the E40D and electronic transfer, and you use the PCM that comes with that eng. tranny setup.
Do lots of research and get lots of corroborating advice before beinning the journey. Good luck if you go after it.

I'm in the camp that says if you're going to go thru all of the BS to put a puny 5.8 gas guzzler in the truck, do the right thing- don't use a 5.8. The 5.8 was always a dog compared to a 350 GM. If you want more power and are going to have to go thru all of the electronic crapola anyway, find a mid 90's 7.4/ 460 cu in truck. Buy the entire truck. You'll get the motor mounts, all of the accessory brackets, PCM, harness, everything including the transmission. Then you'll have the power and have an engine that won't be a gas pig or a land slug. The difference between the 5.0 and a 5.8- not much except the gas mileage and oil usage. But if you just want to stay with a small block, look for the 400cu in. It's a much better engine made from the same guts as the 5.8m.

Your E4OD won't bolt to a 400, different bellhousing patterns. Also, the 400 was carb-only, and not computer-compatible.
