302w to 5.4lt boss engine swap

Hi I’m new to the forum and was wondering if anyone can help me with info on my 89 f150 4x4 5 speed 302w.

Im thinking of swapping the engine to a 5.4lt boss and wanting to use my original gearbox as to keep 4x4.

Gearbox bolt patterns, are they the same or is the a way of doing this conversion?
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

so you want a dohc 5.4 with an aussie boss 290 intake on it?

or a sohc 5.4 from a “boss” F150? we’ve got to figure out what you’re trying to do before we can proceed

Ok, it’s a dohc 260kw 5.4 boss out of a 2005 XR8 Falcon.

Different bellhousing patterns, no adapters that I'm aware of.

The M5OD can't handle the torque of a 5.4 anyway. You need to rethink what you want to do.

yep, the pushrods use a different bellhousing than the modulars, and that transmission is not going to last

would be a lot cheaper to swap in a 351w or 351c
