5.0 rebuild on 95F150 4x4 w AT

looking at options for crate motors. I have a set of GT40 heads and 1.72 roller rockers on it now. No idea of what the stock is in these trucks. But was looking at an autozone reman motor vs a coasthigh 331 shortblock. If I get one from autozone I was thinking of just getting a 1995 mustang GT reman motor, but I have read places that the firing order is different ?? This is my first rebuild on this truck motor, however I have done a dozen 5.0/5.8 mustang engine swaps.

Tried looking up specs of 95 F150 5.0 vs Mustang GT 5.0 and the HP numbers were only about 10-15HP diff but no torque specs?

thanks for the ideas.

The 95 and later truck 302's used the HO firing order. Check yours, it should be 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Very little difference between a 95 truck and Mustang 302.

i always thought it was just the cam, when I was able to use a lot of my old 5.0 parts on it , like the MSD, injectors, heads and roller rockers, etc.

just which letter cam would be best for budget build??

The cam is what determines the firing order.
