1995 F150 302 ECM removal

After scanning the interwebs, I went out to my truck to pull the ECM. One 10cm center bolt to disconnect the harness. Two 10cm studs...removed the nuts from those. Removed the black plastic plate that fits around everything. The ECM is supposed to slide right out. It doesn't. I can wiggle it around a bit, but the 2 studs move with it. Things look pretty crusty...maybe that's normal for the age of the truck. I'm wondering if the ECM hasn't rusted to the slot it fits in, preventing me from removing it. I'm reluctant to start banging on it to loosen things up, or to shoot some WD40 around the edges of the ECM or studs.

I have read in a couple of places that it has to be extracted by removing the kick panel by the emergency brake and pulling it out that way, but it seems like pretty much everyone is removing it thru the engine bay using the steps I used.

I've attached a pic. Any thoughts?

Thanks. I shot some WD40 around the edges. Will let it sit overnight and see how it goes in the morning.
