I have asked countless mechanics what could possibly be causing my problems. First the info 1993 Ford f150. V8 5.0. Replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump. When I'm driving down the road and go to take off or stomp on the gas it just starts to shut down. Sometimes to the point where I have to pull over and turn it off. Wait about 10 mins and try it again. When I start it and take off of I push to hard on the accelerator it repeats the problem. Also now it has developed a popping sound when I start it that continues the entire time it's running. Please help this is my plow truck and I need it running properly to make my ends meet. Thanks in advance guys and gals

 

Hard to diagnose over the web but here's a few wild guesses, jumped time, plugged exhaust, ICM, plugs, wires, map/maf sensor, tps, air filter, vacuum leaks , even stopped up injectors or none of the above and that is enough guessing for now, LOL.

 

Distributor cap and rotor?

Tested for spark or fuel pressure?

 

First check the fuel pressure. Then test the TPS. Also check the distributor cap and rotor.

The Go pedal only does two things: 1) it opens the throttle plates allowing more air into the intake, and 2) it operates the throttle position sensor (TPS) mounted to the bottom of the throttle plate axle. The TPS is used to tell the computer the position of the throttle plates.

I would test the TPS first since they can go bad over time. I don't the exact procedure, but a search can find that for you.

If the TPS is good then I'd suspect a fuel delivery problem.
