To Jack or Not to Jack

When I got my 92 F150, it had the jack "crank bar" under the hood but no jack. What I'd like to know is....what type of jack came factory and where on the truck is it suppose to be mounted????

A black colored, I guess they would call it a, screw jack. It is supposed to mount under the hood, I think, on the passenger side on top of the fenderwell. The lug wrench is also supposed to be mounted near there.

I wouldn't be crazy about changing a tire with that jack, but apparently it would work. I usually try to carry a full size 2 ton or larger shop floor jack in the box with me.

Looks like that. Mounts on the passenger fender, there's a special spot for it and the lug wrench. Also a bracket to hold them. The bracket is probably still there.

Thanks for the come back, Masseyman. I believe I found the factory jack at a 2nd hand store. Your right, those type of jacks are a bit hinkey, I've used them before. Just have to be really careful...

Thanks for the photo, 1995XLT. I saw that very jack at a 2nd hand store today. It ain't the best jack in the world but I want to keep everything as original as possible. Come hunting season I'll carry something a bit more steady for a just in case...
