I was thinking of getting a set of shorty or full length headers, and doing a cat delete, but keeping a muffler so I don't violate any laws where I live. Only issue I might see me having is a CEL after removing the cats and stock manifolds. Are there O2 sensors in the cats? I don't know much about exhaust anything, but I would like to help my truck breathe better and sound better with no cats and headers. My last F150( a 95 ) had stock manifolds, hollowed out cats and no mufflers. Didn't really like the sound of it a whole lot with the stock manifolds and hollowed out cats. I don't have to worry about emissions testing here so I'm not worried about pollution.. Lol. Any advice is appreciated

 

The 93 doesn't have OBD2 so the cats aren't monitored.

However, why not use high flow cats? You may not have emissions testing where you are but it's technically illegal to run without cats on a vehicle that came with them.

 

I really don't like getting behind vehicles that don't have cats. I usually break the speed limit passing them so I don't have to breath all those hydrocarbons.

 

Glc, the reason I don't want high flow cats is because the cheapest ones I've found in Canada were $350 each. I figured the cats would still be monitored even with OBD1. Errr... What are hydrocarbons?

 

Hydrocarbons = unburned fuel

 

So that's probably what's coming out of the tail pipe then. When I crawled under my truck today to change the oil and see why my 4x4 shifter came out of the floor I noticed there are no cats under there. It's just exhaust pipe from the manifolds to the glass packs. This is the reason my shifter came out of the floor
