Ticking/knocking in my '95 transmission

I'm gonna try to describe this the best I can so Here I go. I was driving home a few days ago and for whatever reason there is a very loud ticking/knocking noise in my transmission or at least that's where it sounds like it's coming from. I heard it earlier in the day and it got progressively worse throughout the day to the point where I lost enough power and wouldn't do more than 15-20 mph. Any clue to what it could be? I'm no mechanic so I'm clueless about whats going on. I also want to say that the noise only happens when I let go of the clutch no matter whether I'm in gear or neutral, but when I press it in it's fine and makes no noise.

Input shaft bearing. It's probably the needles inside the shaft.

If you drain your trans fluid, it probably looks like metal flake.
