1993 f-250 460 ?

Short story, I run landscaping company and we have a 1993 F-250 460 V8, 4x4, 5 speed. We use it to plow snow and throw salt during the winter and have it as a back up truck. This truck makes my 01 F-350 V-10 crew cab look like an Econ-Box. What should I check on it? Should I get around 10 to 12 mpg ? I think I'm getting single digits. I was almost thinking about ripping out the EFI and throwing a Holly on it. How much worse could it get? Thanks for any advice.

That engine in that year is a real guzzler. If you can reduce its use for specialty purposes, it would be for the better. And no, a carb setup would only make it worse.........

You are saying that 1993 was just a bad year for them and drinking gas ? It's to the point that its almost too much to fill it and plow with it. There are times I fill it up and go though a tank in less then 50 miles. Then my brother came up with putting a IDI diesel in it.

No, just the carb trucks are worse efficiency wise than the 88+ EFI trucks. My friend's 95 dually gets 6 all day towing are not.

Not thinkin' an IDI swap with all the differences between diesel and gas would pay for itself anytime soon either.
