To be honest, if I were getting a lift, it would NOT be a body lift. A suspension lift would be far better, as long as it was done right. Not sure there isn't at least some suspension lift on as it currently sits. Not really able to tell from the pics. Would help to see what blocks are on the rear.

Are these the blocks?

I don't know the first thing about lifts so all info is much appreciated!
Is there a way I can check if the lift is shock assisted or just reliant on the body/frame spacers?

No, those are the body lift blocks. What I am talking about are the blocks between the axle and sptings. Those are hidden by the tires in that pic.
FWIW, it usually isn't too involved to put on or remove a body lift on those old trucks if you wanted to take it off. Probably just need a set of stock sized bolts to put back on, which finding those would be the tough part.
The body lift doesn't affect drive shaft angles or operation of any suspension components because all it does is lift the cab up. The big danger is the cab rusting on top of the spacer and then the spacer popping up into it after hitting a speed bump, offroading, etc. That and they don't look all that great.

My favorite old engine, - had one in an old 75 Ford farm truck, when I was a kid.
It was a blast chasing the cows around the field with it.
By the time I had a license, it was to late. - I had already broke the truck, somehow.... (?) AFAIK it's still parked where I left it.

Well, After a long day of driving and test driving and driving some more, I am rolling in a new ride, and a blue oval to boot. But the 76 is not it... in fact my newest ride isn't even a truck...
Its a 1994 Aspire, 1.3L, 4-Speed with O/D in a faded blue. To be honest I'm a bit embarrassed about it, had my heart set on the old 76. I did take a good look at it though. The old 390, an obvious junk yard swap, leaked oil like a sieve, had bad exhaust work, and was wired by a plummer, and the old fart wouldn't budge on the price. Granted it could have been cleaned up and rebuilt properly, the body and frame were in excellent shape, but I'm just not ready to jump in that deep.
The old timer fired it up in his garage for me, that Carbureted Rumble of a Classic Ford Big Block brought me back! I almost bought it just for the sound it made. Cant beat it!!
The Aspire should suffice for the immediate, maybe I'll pick up a classic restore truck early this spring... Miss that Carb
I appreciate all the knowledge that was thrown around in this thread, I will call on it again in the future to start my search for a project truck!
Thanks

For in that price range I know I could find a real nice old ford truck. I wouldnt pay much more then 1500 for that one. To much stuff has been messed with. Old fords like that are coming up in value and they are worth way more then the old Chevys. Been that way for the last 20 or so years..
What happened that you were in such dire need of a vehicle? A little car like that is certainly different than a truck, but it'll sure as hell be better on gas! I hope it's good to ya
Haha!
The Aspire is half the size of the modern Fiesta... If I was to guess I'd say it was the smallest car Ford ever produced in north america. Aside from the Festiva possibly! haha
