'77 F150 351M Smog Parts

Moved with my truck from Montana to California. (This truck was not originally sold in CA.) Took it to the shop yesterday for smog inspection and mechanic says parts have been removed, presumably to improve mileage, etc. Here are the parts he says it needs. I'm not having much luck finding them.

EGR Vacuum Amplifier
EGR TVS (throttle vacuum switch)
Load Control WOT (wide open throttle)
Delay Valve

So I guess 1. do you know where I can find them, and 2. are these for certain required on trucks not originally sold in Calif?

I didn't see them on Bronco Graveyard's or LMC Truck's site, but I'll phone them. Mechanic said to get Federal, auto trans, heavy duty. Otherwise, the truck runs great, so it's definitely worth repairing. Also. mechanic says he'll charge $150 to set it up once I get the parts. Not bad.

Thanks.

I am surprised that you still have to worry about such things with such an old vehicle. I would go to your DMV and see what the laws are on emissions and old vehicles. Most states there is a cut off on model year.

He's lucky the smog shop isn't making him comply with light duty California standards, which would require a catalytic converter retrofit.

look out before all the states get californized. i was looking at my sawzaw and wondering if there was a good reason my dual manifold 4.9 goes into a single catalytic converter and stays that way...

In IL, vehicles over 25yrs old are considered antiques and therefor exempt. That is why I mentioned it.

To my knowledge most states require the vehicle meet that standards of when the vehicle was built, including it's anti-smog equipment (catalytic converters, air pumps, etc.). Up until 79, light trucks had little or no smog control. In 79 they got catalytic converters.

The 75-78 49 state trucks under 6000# GVWR and all California trucks had cats.

This is why the F-150 was created - a "heavy half ton" over 6000 GVW, the F-100 was under 6000. GM and Dodge did the same thing.

The last year of trucks with no cats was 1981, some heavy GM 1 ton crew cabs with 454's didn't have cats.
