Some General 80-96 body/cab clarification

Hey guys,
Poking around the internet I see most of places say the old f150/250/350 ext cabs are the same everything, fire wall, hump for transmission ect. But every thread has the one guy who says its not so. This thread might wind up being the same but here it goes
Does any one know for sure? I've seen plenty of 460's in f150s online but I want to know for sure I wont run into some problems with a 460 or 7.3 fitting in, or the transmissions. The cabs are all the same correct? Dashes will swap over from any other cab? Body mounts are in the same place in the same range years for f150/250/350 or possibly all 80-96?
Trying to get the ball rolling on a different f150 project im not sure what im doing yet but there will be a build thread regardless
Thanks guys

No, not quite identical on the cabs, but for the most part yes. Body mounts are the same, but the firewall did change in '92 for the upcoming airbag steering columns. Dashes are still swapable however. I want to say that the diesel tranny floor pans are slightly different, but I haven't researched that one out fully.

Steering column's are different for the air bag models, as is the pedal assembly upper mounting/colum mount

Last year I ran into a guy that had an Indy pace truck. A white Lightning with a 460 in it, 1993 or 1994. Cant remember which year exactly. He claimed it came right from ford the way it sat. Not sure if it will help. But I can say ive seen a early 90's with a 460.

The only years a F-150 had a 460 factory option were 75-80.

Thanks for the help guys. So if I use the 96 cab on a obs late 90's f250/350 I should be looking at identical swap. I will just have to look into the floor pan if I go diesel

Nope gonna call BS on that being factory. Also the only Indy pace truck I can think of was a Dodge.

The truck looked like one of these... Now I cant confirm that it came like that from the factory but that's what I was told from the owner. Feel free to call BS again if you'd like. Im just telling what I saw, and was told....

The 460 was never emissions certified for a 1/2 ton truck after 1980, so if you see one in a 1981+ F-150 it was swapped.

Wow, that is an odd rare limited run I've never seen before, but I'd have to see a vin before I believed a big block stock.
