F150 Strange drivability problems
F150 Strange drivability problems
Hello all,
I have been experiencing some strange issues with my F150 auto over the last week.
When I apply brakes at a junction to come to a halt or just to slow down
and pickup speed the brake somehow sticks I have to lift the brake pedal "manually". If I do not do this and give more juice the truck tries to lurch forwards but is held back by the brakes. I can hear the engine struggling to overcome resistance of the brakes.
I was wondering if any of you have experienced this ( or similar ) weird issue with their brakes?. I looked in the footwell where the brake pedal connects to the "other side" and it is all corroded with the bushings etc all gone. Is there anything I can do to temporarily solve the problem?
You are right in guessing that I do not know much about auto mechanics - I just want to understand what the problem is and learn.
Many Thanks
Tom

Howdy and welcome.
Your "other side" is the tail end of the brake booster (big round thinger powered by vacuum on the firewall) that then intern actuates the master cylinder (place you pop the cap and fill with brake fluid).
You might only get away with ordering and changing the booster, and then you wouldn't have to bleed the system as required with changing the master.
