95 F150 what gears should i use?
Hey, I would like to regear my truck for better accerlation, i have noticed quite a bit difference from the 30x9.5x15 tires and wheels before. im thinking about 4.56 gears? And idk if this is a stupid question, but im young and dumb (im 16) would i need to regear my front end too or what? I have a 302, 5 speed, 265/75r16 (32x10.5x16), and do plan on getting a 4" lift and inch taller tires in next few years, and i do moderate towing.

4.56's on 33's with your set up I think will be running some rpms you wont like. You do have overdrive though atleast. Personally I wouldn't consider more then a 4.10/4.11. I know people who run 4.56's on your same set up but 38's. For that reason I think 4.10's would be best
glc~ is that $1600 includeing someone putting them in because i can do all the work my self with some help.
StrangeRanger~yeah i looked into it a little more and was thinking a lil more towards the 4.10
rclark12~yeah, that makes sense

...and a whole pile of tools to buy or build in order to set up both a Ford 8.8 and a D44 most of which you'll never, ever use again.
Don't do it yourself unless you have experience because gearing is expensive and when done wrong you can grenade them I've seen it happen. If you don't do from and rear you'll blow your transfer case . Better off getting it done right
If i do it i will have a mechanic or two help me i know quite a few experienced mechanics. but i will keep that in mind i definitly wouldnt want to mess anything up. well if i dont do it myself ill definitly wait a while haha
There's alot too it, just make sure you do it with some one who knows what their doing and has all the right tools. It sucks to spend that much money i know, im spending 1400 to get my d60 and 10.25 done. But its really something to bite the bullet on because I could save 500 bucks doing it myself but Id need to buy tools and if they grenade it will wind up costing more any way. Just some food for the thought
