1996 with tranny problem.
1996 with tranny problem.
This is my fiance's 17 year old son's truck. 4.9L/5 speed manual tranny. 150,000 miles and 4x4.
In Jan of 2012 this truck had a new clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder installed. This was at 130,995 miles.
A few days ago he calls from where ever he was at and said his truck would not go in gear and that the clutch pedal was staying near the floor. He ended up drivin it home in reverse. With the truck off, it will go in all of the gears except OD.
Does this sound like the maste cylinder has gone bad? It is still full of fluid and there are no leaks that can be seen. Can anyone give me any other ideas on what might be wrong?
All of the parts used had lifetime Warranties and the shop that did the work said they would warranty any of the parts that were bad but that we would of course have to pay labor. This was an $867 repair last year so I would like to have an idea on what part might have failed so that we hopefully don't get screwed. I did discover today that the shop inflated the parts prices when I was comparing the prices at the store vs what he charged us for the parts so we were a little perturbed about that. I guess we should have checked that last year
Anyway, I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

50/50 of it being the master or the slave cylinders. Trans has to come out to change the slave.
Did you pull out the rubber boot from the master when checking the fluid?
