The carb

I have an 1983 F-150, and i need to replace the carb. What is my best option on doing so. It has a 302 under the hood and its only a 2 wheel drive.

If you can find a good old time mechanic who still works on carburetors, I would have him install a kit in your present carb. Carb kits are still readily available through the automotive parts places. This is assuming the body of your carb is not damaged.

or you could do an efi swap but still the old carbs are the most reliable. maybe look for an upgrade carb.

If you have an AOD transmission you'll probably have to stay with the 2100. Many aftermarket carbs aren't compatable with the AOD's cable setup. The 2100s are very easy to rebuild. If you rebuild buy a new float (not in the rebuild kit) and check the throttle shaft to body excessive clearance and binding.
