steering column shroud

1995 F-150

I need to get to the multi-function switch. I'm trying to get the steering column shroud off but it's caught up on the gear shift, ignition, and steering column adjuster. What am I doing wrong? Yes I did unscrew it so the 2 halves are separated.

If I remember offhand, three screws to separate the two half's. Unscrew the tilt wheel handle which Ford locktites in, so that could be a bitch. Pull off the bottom cover. Use a small screwdriver to pushup on the ignition switch release ball with the key turned to on, and slide it out. Don't fawk with the key till you put it back together, or that unit will go to pieces. Then pull the upper cover over the shifter condom, and yer good to go.
