VIN Plate Location
VIN Plate Location
Hey, gang:
I've got a '77 F150 that's legal and registered. But the VIN plate is loose in the glove box. I'm in Montana where I bought it, but am moving to California. I want to glue the plate where it should be on the dash. But I don't see any mark on the dash to indicate where it originally was. Can someone take a snapshot of where it should be and post it?
Thanks

I know that. It's a chance. The 'smog' sticker is on the valve cover and it runs clean. Other than some paperwork deal, I have no reason to think it will fail. I might register it Permanent in MT before leaving.
I took my '75 F250 to CA a few years ago, and as I recall, the important thing was that the label was on the valve cover. This is Non Catalyst. What sort of retrofits do they require? I haven't seen any via google.
Federal law required externally visible VIN plates on all vehicles starting in 1968. Most manufacturers put them on top of the dash.

I've got a 1976 F-100. After accident new left door was installed but vin tag was not reinstalled. Does anyone know where other locations are for vin. I know they have to be stamped somewhere, I just don't know where. Thanks for your help, new member and enjoy the forum.
Howdy and welcome.
The vin is also on topside of the passenger side frame rail next to the exhaust manifold. You will have to clean it or take out the plastic fenderwell to get to it.
