I've been needing to change the oil pump and pan gasket for some time and all of the answers I've gotten are negative. I looked at it myself and realized why. There's no way slip the oil pan out without lifting the motor. Not to mention, you'd need to be a contortionist to remove all of the bolts. I decided to wait until I get new motor mounts and kill three birds with one stone.
If you find the trick please post!

You didn't mention which engine you have, but it really doesn't matter. The answer is no. The good news is: It's still pretty easy. I had to change mine unexpectedly on the 4th of July, 1998, 1 month and 5 days after the warranty expired. It was much easier than I expected it to be. I would say 3 hours, tops. The radiator has to come out, and the motor mounts unbolted, but if you set the timing mark on the crank to zero degrees, the #1 piston is at TDC, which means the crank isn't as much in the way. I only had to jack it an inch or two. What I feared the most was trying to line the gasket up, because I knew that if I attached it to the pan, and then tried to slide it in, it wouldn't work. But, the Fel-Pro gasket I bought came with four blue plastic alignment pins. They screw into the bolt holes in the block, and you slide the gasket over them, and they hold it in place. This works for the pan as well. Really made the job easier.

Take care
