Intermittent starting Problem
96 F150 XL 4.9L 4x4
Every few start-ups my truck has a hard time starting. It cranks strong (new battery), but just won't turn over. I try it several times and it finally turns over and I don't have trouble again until it sits for awhile. This isn't my primary vehicle so it usually only gets used a couple times a week if that. My friend seems to think its a fuel problem, but since its intermittent and eventually starts we haven't as of yet been able to duplicate the problem when its not working. I though I'd see what others think it might be before starting to take things apart and do some diagnosis. I don't want to get stuck someplace even though it only seems to happen in my driveway

How are the battery cables and connections? Any corrorsion or being loose will cause problems like u described. Also, do u hear the fuel pump kick in when the key is first turned everytime?
I had this problem on my 93 F150 and g/fs 96 Bronco. For my 93 is was loose battery cables and the bronco was a loose starter relay on the inner fender.
