93 5.0 F150 Harmonic Balancer

Ok I got down to the balancer. I don't know what you call the part right before the balancer it has 4 screws then comes off. I tried to mark it the same way it come off ? is that important ? Does it matter.

Now I am ready to take off the harmonic balancer doesn't it only go on one way. Any tips

theres a key way in the shaft it can only go on 1 way.

the 4 bolts only take off the pully the big center bolt comes out and u have to use a puller to get the balencer off

Got a puller , does the tool itself need to rest against the pulley. The bolts that came with the kit didn't allow for the tool to rest against the pully they were too long. In trying to get the balancer off i sheared off two of the bolts??? Am I doing this wrong does the tool need to be flush against the balancer.. Thanks

Yes, it would be best to have the puller bolted tight against the pulley. You did remember to remove that large bolt and washer that is in the center of the pulley? Don't forget the washer.

I pulled the bolt out and didn't notice the washer was still in there, oops.
Once I took it out it was a piece of cake.

2nd note I got a replacement from Autozone put it on then tried to attach
pulley and one of the holes in the new balancer wasn't threaded.
Had to remove and swap it out. I took the old one to match up but didn't look
at the threads, will in the future.
