Old truck, new truck....

Found this pic of my first truck that I took with my current one. I'll always have a soft spot for Ol' Green...

I'm so glad you went back. In my opinion, after 96, Ford trucks stopped looking like trucks. Peace, Dave.

I have owned 3 trucks in the 80-96 generation over the past 15 years and I still believe that they are probably one of the best light trucks ever made. I was pretty much a GM man until I had a 92 300 work truck and I've had one ever since. Even with 235k my 95 truck requires less manitenance and repairs than newer models and seems to age better. Two co workers have newer Ford 1/2 tons and although they are ok they have had to spend much more on simple repairs than if they had my model, things like spark plugs, heater cores, and fuel system issues.
Since I commute in and out of Boston 40 miles a day I'll eventually get a truck for the wife and get a small beater car that can get 30 mpg versus the 17 mpg I get now.
regards
rikard

Sorry Terrapin,

I meant to say that Ol' Green was my first truck, and the '08 is my current. But I agree with all you folks....the '92-'96 trucks are very well built, and can take far more punishment than the newer models. Plus, they were/are just a great-looking truck...

Het DSGSTX81, I uh, kinda had some adult beverages the night I wrote that, and I was just kinda ribbing you. Maybe I should have put one of those little devil instigator smiley things on there. All you guys agreed with me though, that's gotta count for something, right? Lol, sorry man. Peace, Dave.

It's all good, Dave . Sometimes I would love to tool around in that truck again, just to remember some of the really good times I had with that ol girl.

I find it very funny that my current truck only has 30-lb. more per foot of torque than that old straight 6. Makes me proud of her all over again...
