'82 F150 transmission problem

Truck has been running fine. Got in to drive it today and it doesn't get out of first gear until about 35 mph. This happened a little while back, maybe a few months ago, and it turned out to be the modulator. The transmission as i've said before is about the only thing that hasn't been replaced/rebuilt on this truck. I checked the vaccum hose that connects to the modulator and it's perfectly okay. If you think the modulator is the problem just let me know. I'd just like to know why the trans went through this modulator so fast. I also checked trans fluid today and it was a little low, but I added some and it didn't help anything. Just let me know what you think the problem is, and if there are any bigger problems I need to worry about. Thanks in advance.

Did you get the right color band modulator, or an adjustable one?

How well does reverse work?

I got an adjustable one. It turned out to be the modulator again. The trans guy got a new one and he had to adjust it to the maximum setting or something like that. He said my trans is gonna go out in 6 months or less. (6 if I do minimal freeway driving). So I'll probably just get my trans rebuilt at some point in the near future.
