So guys I have a 302 efi with a e4od trans. I'm wanting to build a mild motor nothing to crazy I'm wanting to go to a Carb and do away with the electronics now I know ill have to get a stand alone computer for the trans or change the trans out to a non electric trans. So would y'all build another 302 or something different like a stroked out 347 stroker. Any help would be appreciated

 

Why give up efficiency, power, reliability for a carb? I would for sure build up a bigger motor, but keep a tuneable MAF EFI system.

Show truck not daily driven I want to get rid of all electronics just what I prefer.

 

I agree with Adrian, even if it is a show truck, anyone who knows ANYTHING about vehicles is going to give you **** for going back to an outdated, less efficient system. I say build a 408 stroker out of a 351, convert to MAF, and enjoy the power. This would actually be the cheaper route as well, because those stand alone tranmission controllers are pricey.

 

I would go with a 5.8 based stroker motor, 390 or a 427. You can get a cable shifted aod trans if you want to go with a carb.

 

I've never seen a 351 stroked to a 390 or a 427, only a 408. do you have a link to a kit?

ford racing makes a 351w aluminum block that will stroke out to a 427 with a 4.25" stroke and 351w stock pistons

There's a guy on another site that stroked a 351W to a 454W It was with a Dart Sportsman Block. Not sure if I'm allowed to link to another website or not

 

Id say keep FI, but if you're wanting the old school look just throw a big air cleaner on top of it
