Good deal or not?
Good deal or not?
I have a chance to buy a 1992 F250 ext. cab diesel 4x4 with an e4od auto transmission. Its got 179000 miles on it and is owned by an older man who kept real good care of it. It runs like its new and i cant feel any slipping in the transmission and the 4wd works good aswell. The truck drives great for a 19 year old truckThe body is extremely straight and the inside is clean with no rips or tears. The guy is asking $5,200 for it. Is this a good deal or do i need to stay away from it?
I did but they are alittle 600 or so under that price and the guy wont budge. but it seems like itll last another 300000 mile so i think its worth i just wanted a second opinion.
If the trans HAS been rebuilt, it might be worth that much. If not, I wouldn't pay that. E4ODs before '95 are known to have problems, and it's a $1-2K job. Read the list at the bottom of this caption:

For another ~$2500, you can have the gold 1-ton in my signature.
I'd even meet you halfway (Little Rock or maybe Texarkana).

You said ex cab, so that's a 250, and means a Dana 50 TTB under that heavy *** IDI. So along with the tranny, you are prolly looking at a front end rebuild if it hasn't been done yet.
Without seeing it, I'd say 4k.
Just because the IDI can go 300k ish miles, the rest of the truck still wears out like a gasser.
