95 150 wheel bearing removal/hub assembly removal
I got a 95 f150 ext. 5.0 4x4. my front wheel bearings are bad so i went and got new one. my hub is chrome with 3 torx srews. never seen anything like it. i removed it and theres no snap rings at all. theres 6 slots so i went to the store and they didn't have anything big enough. never seen a hub like this. they couldn't even find one to special order. i even took them out and removed the hub cap to prove it. ive take 93 f150 hubs apart and its not the same so dont try and tell me it is. ive worked on hubs before but never one like this. how can i get it off or where to get the right 6 slotted socket at. its gotta be 2 13/16 spindle nut socket. maybe a 16th bigger or smaller thats it. its bigger then any i can find. and THERE IS NO SNAP RINGS AND YES IT IS STOCK
Stop. You're looking at the automatic hub lock assembly. That & a few other parts have to come out before you can get at the wheel bearing adjusting nut. Click my black Bronco in my signature & read the captions in the Brakes & Hubs album. They show everything you need to know & more, so ignore the ones that deal with manual locks & 5-screw automatic locks.
You don't actually need any socket for this adjusting nut, but the correct one is a large thin-walled rounded-corner hex.

Whats the current status on this? did you get it fixed? I know on my 95 i just got fixed that the hub cap had three torx screws but was the manual lock meaning it had the actual **** you have to turn on each side of the truck to engage the front wheels to the drive axle. To further understand the picture you can get the hub cap off but not the actual lockout assembly out of the hub? Mine was stock as well and there was all kind of crazy parts inside but i got rid of them all and got the warn manual lockouts for an upgrade and also had to get new bearings along with the actual wheel hubs for both sides. All i did was put the three bolts back into the lockout after removing the cap and gave it a couple of good tugs and it slid out. Im pretty sure mine had a large snap ring holding the lockout inside of the hub. Take a look at my other post and it may shed some light on the subject. Steve83 does have a lot of great diagrams and part breakdowns that helped me out as well.
