guess what i found!!!
I was doing a tune up on my 90 4.9 and was astonished at what I found.1 plug was a MC, another was a Champion, and 4 were Autolites. One plug had less than .010 gap! Also a mix matched set of wires! The P.O of this thing I guess didn't care to much about the up keep of this thing at all. Needless to say, it runs very smooth now with power to boot. The only thing I haven't replaced yet is the fuel filter. I plan to do it today after work. I'm hoping it will solve my hard starting issue. It takes about two or three tries and I have to pump the throttle a little while it stumbles to get her going. Only other thing I can think of at the moment is timing. Which I will also check this afternoon. Any suggestions other than this would be welcome.

To check timing on these trucks you'll have to locate the SPOUT, SPark OUT connector. First warm your engine to operating temperature, pull the connector, and shine your timing light on the crank pulley and it should be at 10* BTDC. If not, loosen the distributor and adjust accordingly. If your timing is correct and you still have problems refer back to losthillbilly's thread about "bucking." I think I've posted some usefull info there. As to weather or not to do a tune up, it depends on how long its been since the last one. If you can't remember or don't know, ya might as well. Be cautious though I just spent about $150+ on what I've done so far.
