AC question

1995 F150 5.0 V8, 150k. The clutch on the ac compressor is cycling like clockwork. It will engage for 2 seconds then disengage for 4 seconds, the engine will rev up a little during each cycle, the vents are blowing air, but not that cool crisp ac air, and smells slightly musty. Is the clutch going bad? I had the entire ac system replaced about 3 years ago. Luckily summer is over and not too hot down here. Thanks.

Either you have a leak, or it's so cool that the A/C isn't necessary, which will cause what you're describing. If it worked when the weather was hot, then don't worry about it. If this behavior started while it was hot, wait for a hot day and take it to a pro to find the leak.

Thanks for the reply Steve, but like I said, its just air blowing out, not cold at all, like it was a vent, and what would be the reason for the 2 seconds engaged, 4 seconds not, repeatedly, with no exception? Thanks again!!

Low on refrigerant. Take it to a pro and get it recharged.

Thats what I'm hoping. Refrigerant is pretty cheap and Autozone has the kit. Does anybody know what the pressure should be?? Thanks again, guys!!!

If you are not experienced in A/C service, you really should take it to a pro - and have it leak tested too.
