Truck Problems has Everyone Stumped.

I'm running an F150 92, with about 258K milies. It started acting up July of last year. Sometimes it will start and run for a day sometimes not. It has been in the shop most of this year since May in and out for a day or two, more in then out. It will start most of the time then cut out and may not start for a day or two. Then start again it may even run for a day or two before it dies again.

The distrubitor and pip have been replaced, fuel pumps & filter have been replaced. The co2 plug has been replaced. The starter has been checked out. It has to be somethink elect. I think but have no idea what. The shop working on it is stumped as well. One thinks it might be the computer and one thinks it might be the the ignition system. I have already spent closed to $1000.00 on this and can't afford much more. (unemployed) and living of my savings. Anyone have any ideas or had this problem and know what it is if so please help ???

Thanks
Gordy

Thanks Guys; I'll have them check the EEC I don't know if they checked it yet. They seem to think it is the computer or ignition but can't seem to figure out which one.

Got it back yesterday. Turns out it was a ground. So far it seems to be running great. They said my truck has about 20 ground wires and some of them are not listed by ford.

Then they don't know how to use the EVTM because Ford shows every one of the grounds in agonizing detail.

You may be right, turns out the problem is not fixed .Truck is doing the same thing again. Ran for two days and started acting up again, and to think this is considered one of the best shops in my town.

Then they should be anxious to protect that reputation by fixing your truck for no more money. They agreed to fix it for what you agreed to pay, and it's not fixed. Either they fix it for what you've paid, or they refund 100%.

Your right Steve, I need to talk to them about that. They called me last Friday told me it was done. Got in it and it would not start. So much for being fixed... Tired of them throwing parts at it and charging me for them and it still having the same problem.
