Yeah we really are that light, you were probably looking at the gvwr, which for my truck puts the payload to almost 2k I think. Maybe only 1500
And any time I've gotten hung up with my truck was due to crappy ground clearance at the axles. I've been stick two times and both were framed in snow.
Curb weight of my truck according to consumer guide auto is 3886, add in aftermarket wheels bigger heavier tires a fullsize spare on metal wheel and just over 4k with driver makes sense. I personally put 130 on it haha. Even the heaviest truck of these years was 4316 in the extended cab long bed version.
