EEC IV swap?
EEC IV swap?
Anyone know what numbers need to match?
Can 2wd to 4x4 swap be done?
Mine reads 9H16 and D0X1 on the back side
Where the harness plugs in it reads
EEC IV EFI SD40 32K EPROM
F0TF-12A650-CB G
60ES40ZN12 15907 - 526 9H15
With another D0X1 real big beside the rest of the numbers.
Lost hillbilly has one that may work and theres another guy here close that has 3, he's gunna come look at the truck tomorrow.
I tried looking on rockauto and I'm still confused, it gives a bunch of numbers and none of them match what mine says.

So this one won't work..?

And what is the difference between computers that would make one work and one not? I can't see why a 2wd 4.9 5 speed and a 4wd 4.9 5 speed would be a different eec.

That's a 1993 computer with a different calibration.
A-1 CARDONE Part # 785754 Reman. A-1 CARDONE Engine Control Computer
Standard trans.; I.D. #(s) F3TF-XA, XB; with Federal Emissions
$159.79 $45.00 $204.79
It may or may not work.

It should be a 95.. I think that's what he said.
My dad has called in the troops, meaning every guy with an old ford sitting around in the whole county, hopefully I'll come into a working computer within the next week.

Just saw your other thread - replace that IAC before you screw with a computer.
F3TF-XB was used in 1995, but that's a 1993 part number - F3. 1990 part number is F0.
Tell your dad you need a F0TF-CB computer.

I told him, got the numbers written down for him. I'm back at college, he's gunna be looking this week for some stuff
If the one parts truck is an inline I'll pull the IAC from it and see.
Would that part prevent the truck from starting at all?

Nope, when it doesn't wanna start it doesn't wanna start.
You can crank the starter and move the throttle all you want it don't fire.
Hoping for an update today from the old man whether or not it started today and if he has found any parts yet.

DOX1 is the calibration code that you need to concentrate on - it's specific to your engine size, emissions, & trans type (E4OD, 4R70W, or anything else). 2-/4WD has nothing to do with the EEC, other than maybe some minor engine & emissions calibrations. Because calibrations changed so frequently, a code was typically only used for 1 model year (or less), but the code doesn't exactly refer to the year.
Local parts stores should be able to get you a reman with a warranty for $80-150.
The F3-- in the PN is just the DESIGN year for the hardware; it has nothing to do with the model year the part is used in.

Ooh more info yay.
I'm just gunna order from rock auto unless a local store has it in stock within a decent price. I straight up need my truck for school.
My dad tried the computer from like an 87 with a 5.0 and auto trans just for ****s and giggles I guess. Did nothing, whatya know.

It's running with the eec from another 90 with the inline and a 5 speed.
Different numbers, like I said in the other thread I have them. They are in a folder under the seat of the truck which is parked too far away from my dorm for me to want to go get it. I'll get em tomorrow.
I know it says f0tf....ab instead of cb, what does that mean?

Sorry guys I forgot about posting the numbers, so here they are.
Old:
D0X1 9H15
F0TF12A650-CB G
New:
0F12 S0U1
F0TF 12A650 AAB G
Some of the numbers on the new may be out of order since my dad wrote them down this time not me. Just wondering you you guys think I will run into problems with this new eec.
