Hey guys, I,m looking to put some different gears in the truck. It is a 1979 F150 which used to have a 300 6 cylinder. It now has a 302 but still the stock rear end. My father never got around to changing it but I would like to. Any suggestions? It is sluggish at takeoff. I just want a little better acceleration.

What gears are in it now?
What tranny?

 

What tires? What axle? Is the engine running right? Changing the gears is about the most-expensive & least-effective way to improve acceleration.
