1981 F150 Starting problem

Hello everyone, I have a 1981 F150 4x4 and it wont start, it has a new alternator, and starter solenoid, the battery and the starter tested ok.

When I turn the key, I get a buzzing noise under the hood coming from the solenoid not sure what the problem is, i do suspect the ignition switch, any ideas?

Have you checked your grounds? What prompted the replacement of all the other parts?

Not sure about the ground

I just bought the truck and the alternator and starter solenoid had been replaced within the last 6 weeks, (according to the owner), I took the starter off and had it tested and it tested good so I opted for the cheaper solution which was the starter solenoid, another odd thing was, when i replaced the solenoid and started the truck, it kept running after i turned the key off and removed it. after i got it running it ran about 3 days and now is dead again, i tried jumping the starter solenoid but nothing, and I am not sure if the truck is grounded correctly.

Run a jumper cable from the (-) of the battery to the block and give it another shot. Its a good way I recently learned to check your grounds.

The fact that when it did start the starter stayed on (I think thats what you meant) intrigues me though.

starting issues

I have a 1981 ford with a 460 I believe and the other day I started it and it ran for about a minute then died. I assumed the front tank was out of fuel. I switched tanks and it still wont start. It turns over but only runs with the key held in the start position and the gas to the floor, as soon as I let off the key it dies. I replaced the ignition switch, starter solenoid, voltage regulator, a 20 amp circuit breaker and the fuel filter and still does the same thing. I tried running a push button and that did not help. I ran a jumper wire from the (+) of the battery to the coil and it turned over again but even after taking the key out it still was turning over so I had to unhook the battery. It still will not start. I am getting spark and fuel to the carb. What else can I do?
