brake fluid level switch
brake fluid level switch
i'm losing my mind trying to find one.
i bought a parts truck and its one is bad too!
the part i'm talking about is the little switch that sits in the brake line distribution block, just below the master cylinder. bolted to the frame, has about 5 lines going to/from it. its a little switch that threads in there too, 2 wires. when the fluid level is low the switch extends and completes the circuit to light up the warning light on the dash. both my switches are bad and ford only sells it with the distribution block for 590$ CDN!!! it should be at most a 20$ switch...anyone found someone selling these new? i dont want a wrecker one since i doubt it'll last long either.
my trucks a 1986 F150 4x4 but that shouldn't matter. found lots of examples on ebay of used distribution blocks from other old ford cars that all appear to have the exact same switch... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the year matters. Put the truck's specs in a signature so you don't have to remember to type them every time. You can omit "19.." and "F150" since those are assumed. Year, engine, trim level, cab/bed size, transmission model, 2/4WD (manual shift or ESOF), gears, tires, miles, maintenance, mods, damage, repairs... An avatar photo of the truck would help, too.
That's not the fluid level switch. That's the brake warning switch in the proportioning valve block. There is no fluid level switch before '87 (plastic MC reservoir).
And you don't replace the switch - you center the valve inside the block to turn the switch (& light) off. Get a Haynes manual & read about it. It's time-consuming, but not difficult.

door sticker is long gone in it. it was pieced together repeatedly by a bit of a hack... doors and box are from a 87+ truck.... i know most of what it is.... just not sure of the axle gearing but i believe its 3.55...
